Our Team

For a 10,000-mile journey, it is crucial to choose the correct crew. While the four of us have never spent over three weeks of driving together straight, we have put up with each other so far through many two-hour soccer practices, hard-fought games, and six-hour road trips to Maine. David:
I'm David Lander and I am from Cambridge, MA. I am currently a sophomore at Amherst College and likely majoring in History and Environmental Studies. I have traveled throughout my life on family trips exploring old neighborhoods, art museums, and even Indonesian temple ceremonies. I am excited to travel through a part of the world I have never seen and might never get a chance to visit but for this adventure. 

 

Sam:

I'm Sam Stogdon and I am currently on a gap year after High School and will be attending Haverford College in the fall. So far with my time off school, I have spent 80 days in the wilderness of the Pacific North West, spent several months living in Oxford, England, and worked in a mechanic shop learning to fix cars, a skill I hope will come in handy on our unbelievable 10000 mile journey. I am excited for this trip to cap off a great year off.

 

Percy:

I’m Percy Stogdon and I call Oxford, England and Cambridge, MA my homes. Right now I’m a second-year at the University of Chicago majoring in Physics. Last summer I worked as a laborer for a residential construction company in the Boston area, thinking it would be my last chance to avoid long hours sitting around some office or library for quite some time. I am thrilled to have been proved wrong, with this summer’s promise of the adventure of a lifetime.

 

Zeke:

Hey, my name is Zeke Vainer and I’m a sophomore at Macalester College. I’m planning to major in anthropology with a minor in Economics and Hispanic studies. In the past few summers, I’ve done a number of odd jobs and internships and I couldn’t be more excited to do something more ridiculous and fun with a group of great guys this summer. Also, I look forward to participating in as many local dances as possible along the way.
