The Route

We have mapped out our planned route.  We will leave London and spend a few days driving through nine countries in Europe with planned stops in Brussels, Munich, Budapest, Sarajevo, Dubrovnik and Meteora. We will visit a local soccer program in Sarjevo. Then we drive across Turkey stopping in Istanbul and Cappadocia. Next, we will drive to Georgia, stopping in Tbilisi where we will again visit a local soccer program.  From Georgia we will head to Baku in Azerbaijan.  Then we board a ferry for Turkmenistan. (The ferry leaves when it is full - we could wait 3 hours or 3 days.)  In Turkmenistan we will head up to the Door to Hell, a natural gas pit that has been burning for over 40 years.  From there we will head to Uzbekistan planning to visit the Aral Sea  and Samarkand.  Then we will head to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. We will head north from Kazakhstan into Russia.  And finally … Mongolia!  We will drive to Ulan Baatur to stay the night and celebrate and then drive 8 last hours to Ulan Ude in Siberia, our final destination!
